The Bible: So Misunderstood It’s a Sin – While I was still a Christian, I lost count of the number of times I asked “where?” about things people at church (including the pastors) proclaimed “it says ___ in the Bible.” I never got an answer for any of them.
They as a pronoun – I like “they” as a gender neutral pronoun. Interesting point about just how recently the ‘rule’ that “they” is plural-only came about.
Ken Ham keeps lying: both in his advertising and in a blog post about an atheist’s blog post – But I’m sure his claims make perfect sense if you look at his blog with his “Biblical glasses” (that just so happen to always confirm his beliefs and never prove him wrong). FWIW, saying “you’re trying to use tax money in ways that are almost certainly illegal” is not the same as “spreading blatant lies and misinformation.”
Defense Lawyers Say Jurors Deserve A Pay Raise To Minimum Wage – I can see both sides of this. On the one hand, jury duty is a civic duty but shouldn’t be a hardship. On the other, practically this would be unfeasible for many governments. Hey, maybe if we didn’t have a “justice” system that depended on such a vast quantity of arrests, trials, and jurors. (The legal industry is kind of like the wedding industry – when it’s your turn, you want the smartest & best trained people involved at all levels, but as soon as it became an industry it switched from serving us to draining us for profit.)
Report Says CIA Misled Congress, White House On Interrogation Program – Every time stories like this come out, there are some people who argue we shouldn’t disclose or punish those who broke the law, because the news will make “terrorists” (the rest of the world) angry and provoke attacks on Americans. Maybe instead you shouldn’t things in secret that will cause anger when they go public.
